Yard Work and Halloween Photos

I haven’t been training much nor posting on here as I should.  I apologize!  The reason?  It has finally cooled off enough to work outside!  When we moved in here a few months back, the house had been vacant for a year.  Texas is suffering from a major drought, which in turn left our poor home with dirt in the backyard and mostly crabgrass in the front.  The dogs and kids have kept my house  filled with dirt and dust.  I clean and 5 mins later it looks like a dust storm came through.

Over the last few weeks we have been taking our spare time to get things done.  First we removed all the ‘rock gardens’ in the back yard.  There were 3 flower beds filled with river rock.  We moved the rock to the front flower beds and completely removed all but one of the three large beds.  We left the smallest one in the corner with a small shade tree and filled it with sand for the kids.  Now it is a sand box.

We have also built a shed to hold all my dogs crates / pens / agility equipment as well as Keith’s military gear that he doesn’t use except when deployed.

New 8 x 88 shed.

Today we had a crew come in and remove all the the grass around our home.  Tomorrow they come back to move more dirt.  We are on the side of a hill and if it rained I think our large oak tree could crash into our home it is so eroded.  They will be bringing in a truckload of dirt, removing what little grass remains in the back yard, and fix the erosion issues.

Front Yard... grass free!

We are putting in an underground sprinkler system while the grass is gone, then next week we were get our new sod delivered.  I can tell you, I have never been so excited about grass in all my life!!!   I’ll be sore but happy when the last square goes down!  I’ll post more photos as we progress.  Just be aware that post might be limited over the next few weeks, then Thanksgiving will hit… then the kids Birthdays… then Christmas… Oh man I am tired already!!

HOWEVER…………………..

Not to be forgotten was our Halloween adventures earlier in the week.  Here are a few photos for your enjoyment.

Kenzie the "Pink Princess", Keith as Woody, Aiden as Buzz, Flash as Bulleye.

Yes, Flash was just thrilled to have a complete shave down with a mow hawk “mane” plastered in gel / mousse to make it look more like a horse and less like a poofy poodle coat, not to mention the entire costume!

Flash is just so excited about being Bulleye!

Flash was a great sport and really enjoyed getting to visit with all the kids we passed.  I think in the end he would say it was all worth it to be apart of the fun.

Kenzie told me I had to be "An evil Witch".

Hope everyone had a spooky and safe Halloween!!
