Rain – A Tribute! 4/16/04 – 10/12-11

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of a great dog.  Rain “Anutta Showers of Blessings CGC, Delta Dog” passed away in October of ‘unknown’ reasons.  She went from totally healthy to deathly ill in a short period of time.  Sadly, no necropsy was done, so we have no idea what could have been the cause.  It is almost impossible to speculate due to her symptoms.  Cancer?  Maybe.  Addisons?  Maybe.  Bacterial?  Maybe.  Viral?  Maybe.  Fungal… maybe! or even something like with Merlot who had a whole in his stomach while the vets screamed “CANCER” at me.  (No, vets are not high on my list right now).  Honestly, there is no way to even guess.  This leaves me in a tight spot, as she is the mother of both Georgie and Zelda, who are due to be bred this winter.  Without concrete information, I am going to go forward with the girls and see how things move in the next generation.  All of Rain’s brothers and sisters are still living, as far as I know, except for Merlin who passed away several years ago from Bloat.

I want to thank Stacey, Craig, Morgan, and Halle for taking such good care of my dogs.   They raised some stellar puppies in those two litters of Rain and gave both Major and Biscotti a great retirement home.

Rain was an active Therapy dog with Delta Dogs in Tucson, AZ.  She touched many lives and left a firm paw print in our world.  I can’t ask for more than that form any of my babies!!  Say hi to your Daddy Merlot for me Rain!  He is up there romping around the fields with you now, I am sure.  Just don’t try to put your paws on his back , or he will probably have to tell you who is the boss all over again!!!

Below are a mix of photos, a few from her Therapy work.  Here is what Stacey told me about those photos

Becky, these are pictures of us with Rain at the assisted living place we visit at twice a month. Rain was so comfortable there and the people with her that we just took her off leash and she would just wander around visiting them freely. We would sometimes bring hula hoops and other props and have her do tricks. it was always such an enjoyable experience for everyone! – Stacey
