I hope everyone is having a safe Memorial Day and has taken some time to reflect on what this day really means. As a wife to a military service man and with many family members who have, are now, or will be serving in the future, this day has special meaning to me and those close to our family. Most Americans have never visited, much less lived in a less developed country than our own. The freedoms we have here, things we find common place are rare or unheard of in those countries. The reason we can feel safe is due in large part to our Military. The soldiers who have paid the ultimate price are honored this day. I understand that at any time my husband could become one of those soldiers. This thought is sobering. Do I enjoy moving every 2-3 years to fill the needs of the US Military? No. Have I enjoyed being away from my childhood friends and family for the last 17 years? No. Was it incredibly stressful watching my husband deploy 3 times to a War zone? Absolutely. Will this happen again? Highly likely. Would I live a different life if I had it to do over? NO! What Keith does is important. Sure he could make more money outside the military and be a whole lot safer, but both of us have grown into independent, self assured, capable people who know we can march through just about anything and come out stronger on the other side. Our marriage is stronger, I know he can be gone and I will be able to handle anything without fear. I’ve done it before, I will likely do it again. I have met some amazing people on this journey, people who have guided and giving me a different world view. This experiences and friendships are priceless. Keith risks his life and is willing to do so to keep our countries safe. FREEDOM is not free. We have chosen as a family to sacrifice many things other take for granted, so that the USA can remain strong. Today, we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Remember these things, as you enjoy the remains of this day.

On a Poodle note: I made two video’s of Zane and Gatsby last week, during their first tether training session.  Watch how each puppy reacts to the tether.

On the aptitude test Zane was mostly 2’s, a few 3’s, with a 4 and 1 thrown in for good measure.  Gatsby was almost all 4’s, with one 5.  You can clearly see the difference in drive between those two pups.
In the second video I am playing a little tug with the two pups. I always pair fun and training, so the dogs don’t even know they are being trained.
