Even though it is crazy busy, I can’t neglect my new baby puppy!  Yesterday I did some ‘come’ work with Mica.  The technique I used can be seen in this video of Jazz when she was a puppy. 

You let the puppy get distracted, call them to come and give them yummy treats. Mica loves food, so it wasn’t hard to teach her heel. Within 15 minutes she had the concept down and was hanging right with me.

Today we did rather advanced stuff for a baby puppy.  I tailor my training to the dog and I felt Mica could handle what I was going to offer.  We took a walk and on the walk I had her heeling at all paces and we started our automatic sits. I kept it very very positive with lots of praise, food, and love. I want her to LOVE working with me. I want her to think this is the best stuff in the world. You build that by making it a game.

Standard Poodles are so much fun and pretty darn cute to boot.  🙂
