ADOPTION PENDING!

I drove 6 hours today to pick up a young dog who needed a new home.  His name was Fin, but my daughter said “he isn’t a fish” and suggested we change the name.  I told her to pick something similar to his old name so the poor guy doesn’t have to suffer multiple names in a short time, assuming whoever adopts him will again change it.  She has dubbed him Flynn.  His previous owners are moving over seas for a year and cannot afford to take more than one dog.  They felt it would be better for such a young guy to find a new family and keep their older small schnauzer.  I think they made the right decision.  This dog has not been abused, neglected, or mistreated in any way.  He is super sweet, calm, good with kids, dogs of all sizes, cats, and even critters (he lived with a bunny and a cat).  They said he liked to chase their chickens, but never harmed them.  He is SUPER calm and very willing to please.  Flynn already sits for attention, rarely jumps up, and will go lay down on a bed if asked.  He is not mouthy and is very quiet for a large breed puppy.  He did beg for some of my lunch, but gave up after a few short minutes.  So far, he hasn’t had any accidents in the house, so likely he is as house trained as any 5 month old… meaning, he will go outside if given the opportunity, but might not be able to hold it for hours on end.  He is learning the dog door from my guys.  I am told he has never spent any time in a crate, but as well behaved as he is I don’t see that as an issue.   He did not get car sick during the drive.

Flynn is a mixture of Standard Poodle and Vizsla.  The previous owners were able to see the mom (Standard Poodle) and was told the dad was the neighbor’s hunting Vizsla.  When I heard the parents breeds I really expected a higher drive puppy.  Instead he is probably the calmest 6 month old puppy I have been around in many years.  He has a very harsh coat even at his young age.  Likely he will shed some as an adult and need professional grooming similar to a terrier.  DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS DOG IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES!  I cannot guarantee he will not shed when his adult coat comes in, and I will not have him re-homed due to family allergy issues.   He is a totally awesome puppy.

If you would like me to consider you as a home for this lovely young boy, please contact me for an application.  He will be neutered before placement, put on heartworm medication, and I am waiting on his shot records and information before I can let him go.  Adoption fee will be set to cover his expenses.

He is slightly smaller than River right now, but could grow another inch or two.

Here is a short video of his introduction into the pack.
