Life With Poodles

Pet Sitting / Board and Train service to puppy owners.

Over the last week I have been pet sitting Lincoln, who is Quincy’s full brother (Bree x Bret litter).  Back when I lived in Killeen, TX I would occasionally watch Lincoln for his family when they would travel.  When I moved away they had to use another person, which wasn’t ideal.  The new person allowed Linc far to much freedom, so he picked up a few bad habits over the last 3 years.  His mom ask me to work on those while he was here.  Lincoln absolutely remembered me, which in turn made correcting his behavior a non-issue.  Poodles are so smart!

Now that I am back in San Antonio and mostly settled, I thought I would make a post about this service I offer… but have never advertised.   I do a limited amount of Pet Sitting and / or Board and Train for my pups.  Because there are so many of you in the San Antonio and Austin area’s, I felt I should make this more public knowledge.   I don’t do a lot of pet sitting, and only offering this to folks with my Poodles.  This is more of a ‘breeder perk’ than anything.  I enjoy spending some time with my babies, and I like to help maintain their good manners when I can.   If you think you might be interested in this service, contact me when you have a vacation coming up to see if I will be in town and able to watch your pup.  I might not be able to do much sitting when I have a litter on the ground, so be aware.

Here is my current price list:

$25.00 a day for pet sitting here in my home.  You bring food and meds.  $10.00 a day for each additional dog.  You don’t need to bring anything else.  I have tons of toys, beds, crates if needed, leashes, etc.

$350 a week for board and train for one dog.  $175 for a week of boarding, plus $175 for a week of training.   I teach core basics like sit, down, stay, wait, come, mat, off, loose leash walking (both “let’s go” and “heel”), house training, or behavior modification for jumping up, counter surfing, separation anxiety, barking, crate training, or destructive issues.  Board and train is only needed for young dogs or dogs with many bad habits that need modifying.  If your dog only has a few bad habits I can nip those in the bud with normal every day life situations at no extra charge.  I won’t board and train a dog with aggression issues unless an evaluation is completed prior to boarding.  I’ve never had one of my Std Poodles have aggression issues, so this is likely a non-issue.

These prices are half what you would pay at most boarding kennel where your dog is kept in a run.  Board and train runs $500 a week, or $2000 a month on average for training centers.  Again, this isn’t a money making scheme, but a nice perk for those with my dogs.

Here is a short video showing just how comfortable dogs get within my home.  I am firm on my rules, but very fair.  My dogs are taugh to be calm in the house, so the new dogs follow suit and learn to be relaxed.

Let me know if you want to use me while I am living in San Antonio!!
