Anutta? What does that mean? I can't tell you how many times I have been asked this, so I thought I would make a page explaining our kennel name and why we selected it.
Frist, why have a Kennel Name? Well, it's a way for folks to quicky recognize you as a breeder. They can look at a pedigree and see "Ahh that dog is from the Anutta lines and if they are familiar with my dogs, they will know the health and temperament behind those lines.
When you select a kennel name, AKC would like you to pick something that isn't in the dictionary, though this isn't required. Many people get around this by putting two words together. Like ShepherdRidge or Dragonhouse. We did not want to do this, because we wanted a very short kennel name. Other people select their real names and bunch them together: Cherdon (for cherri and don). When we were breeding Shiba Inu, we picked the name Paragon as our kennel name. We could not register this name with AKC and soon found many many other breeders using the same name in different breeds. So, we decided with our poodles we wanted something that was not likely to be used by any other breeder in any breed.
Now, why Anutta? Basically, Anutta is a play on words. It is a type of slang way my husband and I made for saying "Another". It started out as a joke, but the idea grew fast as we felt it had great potential. When you read the names of my dogs, think "another" in your mind and their names come together. Anutta New Years Resolution, Anutta Amazing Grace, Anutta Cameo Appearance. The other factor in deciding on this name was that poodles are clowns. We pronounce it as "A nut ta" with Nut describing many poodles really well. :)
It all just seemed to work towards what we wanted in a kennel name. It is short and easy to remember. It begins with an "A" so it will show up quickly on search engines or other alphabetical listing and it gives us a lot of room to create original registered names.
