Hi Becky ~
Just wanted to let you know WE MADE IT! Kipper and I passed the evaluation
for the
Delta Society Pet Partners team! Kip did just great during the
evaluation. His only "fault" is that he was nervous and did almost continual
calming signals ~ lip licking and yawning mostly. I was so proud of him. To
think this was really the first time he had ever even ENTERED a public
building, let along be run through tests and fairly stressful situations. At
only 17 months to be as calm and collected as he was, I'll let him lick his
lips!
Everyone there commented at various times how calm and gentle he was. I guess
it still remains to be seen if he actually enjoys visiting people with me. I
don't intend to push him into something he hates, but I have this feeling he
will turn into a big ham and love every minute. We'll keep you posted along
the way.
Also, Kip was so beautiful after his last grooming. The groomer's husband
walked into the room and out of the blue asked if I showed him in
conformation. He went on and on about the way Kip holds his head, walks,
etc. Of course, I know nothing about those things but it's always fun to hear
them. This husband and wife team were big into conformation years ago but now
only do obedience with their poos. I think they had a similar experience that
you did with conformation. Anyway, it was a nice compliment coming from
someone who knows their poos.
I'll be anxious to hear about your new puppies coming up. Congratulations! I
need to get going with school this morning but just wanted to give you an
update. We'll be coming down to the Springs over Thanksgiving. I still would
love to come see Cami and the other pups. I think Kipper would have a ball
playing with them for awhile. He is a very social pup among people and other
dogs. People ask me all the time if he is more dog oriented or people
oriented and I really can't answer that. He seems to love them all.
Have a great day! Sandy
