Sept 2007: Litter health update
3 pups: 2 girls, 1 boy- 2 years old
Jasmine "ANUTTA JASMINE ADDIE": Pet girl due to conformation flaws as a pup. She didn't outgrow and actually became worse with age. Nothing debilitating, just poor conformation which causes her to walk on her feet funny. She also suffers from bad allergies. We had her ACTH stim tested, due to a odd sickness she had over the Christmas in 2004. She tested totally normal, so Addison's was ruled out. Her owners now think it was food allergies. She has improved since she was put on a diet without the allergen type foods.
Macie:"ANUTTA NEW YEARS RESOLUTION" the other girl. No allergies, healthy ears.
Fully health tested and everything was great. She had one litter for us.
Sadly, one puppy from her only littter has developed Addisons. Her entire
litter is now spayed.
Bowser (Not registered with AKC):
The boy from this litter had recurrent ear infection issues and has become a rock eater.
They have to watch him to make sure he doesn't eat any rocks when he is outside
to potty. This might be related to Sadie's sock eating issues Some
sort of genetic oral obsession? So far he is the only puppy of Sadie's to show this
issue.
SIRE: Major developed food allergies at age 5 and was neutered.
He sired two litters in his life and both litters produced dogs with allergies.
UPDATE: Major is hypothyroid and is now on medication to treat this issue.

PUPS BORN December 31st, 2002! Sadly, we lost three to Sadie being an inexperienced mom. 3 healthy, happy pups are now ready to show their faces!

Marquis Anutta Sweet Success CD CGC
MAJOR: 2 years old, white, and 27 inch tall. OFA Excellent (Great hips), CERF normal (no eye issues), SA tested normal (no skin issues), vWD DNA normal (no blood disorder). He is super smart, super loving. He is my Golden Retriever poodle. Loves all people, all animals, is naturally good with kids even though he is not around them often. I visited with Abby's family (my fostered pup sired by Major) and took Major over to visit. They have 3 children. 2 twin girls who are 5, and a 2 year old boy. Major was simply perfect with them. He has the temperament that any home can enjoy. He has his Canine Good Citizen title and is ready to show in Obedience and Agility. I had him entered in some shows last month, but due to an unplanned trip, I couldn't attend with him. I hope to get his obedience title the first of the year. Major is very praise driven. If you tell him "What a good boy" he will do anything for you. Super sweet is this male. He is intact and sired a litter already, but he is safe with any creature. Major should have been shown in conformation, but I just can't do all that hair and I will not send them off with a stranger. :) Great Retriever and a wonderful dog all around. He is not dominant, he is not protective. He is a lover!! |

Kismet's Anutta Shady Lady CGC Sadie: 3 years old in Feb, Silver and a tiny 21 inch tall. OFA Good (normal hips), CERF Normal (no eye issues), SA normal (no skin issues), vWD DNA normal (blood disorder). Sadie is super sweet and gentle, but she is a huntress! She loves to watch the birds, squirrels, and cats next door. She hasn't attacked anything, but she sure loves to watch. I think she would have made an excellent Upland Game dog. She isn't a retriever though. Not at all. You throw it away, you can go get it, or send one of those other poodles. <Grin> Sadie is a soft dog and needs little to no corrections. A Sadie NO is all it takes. She is a natural on a leash. The only time she ever pulls at all is if she sees a cat and that is still VERY gentle. She is great with kids and small dogs. Loves to play with pups and isn't dominant at all. She is a little protective and is a watcher of the house. If something scary is coming, she lets us know, but then leaves it in our hands to take care of. She is a good pet temperament and is lovely to look at. She has her Canine Good Citizen title and is ready to show in Obedience, but she really HATES it. It is a controlling thing to her and since she is so submissive to us, she doesn't do well in controlling environments. I am probably not going to make her show, since she does not enjoy it. Agility she loves, so when she is ready for that, we will go that route. |

We are hoping for a wide range of colors with this litter. For sure, we will have Blacks, Whites, Creams, Silvers, Blues. Maybe, if we are lucky, we will have Browns, Silver Beiges, and Cafe's.
ALL Black, Blues, and Silvers are born Black. It is very hard to be sure when they are born what color they are likely to be as adults. I have been told that Silvers will start turning at 6-8 weeks of age and you can see the fading when the face is shaved. Blues generally do not start fading until 10-12 weeks, so if you pick your pup up before that time, I cannot say for sure if you are getting a Black who will stay black, or a blue. Silver is a fading gene. More than likely, if I get any blacks at all, they will fade a little to one degree or another. If this is a problem, waiting for a litter from a dog who doesn't have the fading gene, might be a better option. Color is icing, but I know we all love Icing!
I expect good working, pet, and conformation prospects from this litter. I am keeping at least one, very possibly two pups from this breeding, depending on sex and color.
