I was shopping in Petco yesterday, looking for other training treat options that were a bit ‘lighter’ for the pups to eat in high volume.   I’ve used a lot of different options for training.  I like using BilJac training treats, but they dry out in a hot car if the bag is not sealed perfect.  They are very rich on little tummies, which means you need to make sure you don’t use to many and end up with a sick dog.  Not a good option if your wanting to train for a long period of time.  I like using chicken hot dog, but it also isn’t something I can keep stashed in the car.  Even cut up and microwaved till crisp, I would not feel safe leaving them for days before feeding to my dogs.  I like using cheese.  Obviously a bad option for hot days in the car.  I like using freeze dried liver / chicken / beef products and I plan to review a couple of my dogs favorites later.  However, these are also rich on the stomach and tend to crumble if I need to put a handful of treats in my pants pocket.  I do keep a package of these in my car, but I like to mix it in with a more ‘kibble’ type option.

While I was in Petco I found a new product that looked very interesting!  It was called Wet Noses – Little Stars Organic Dog Training Treats.  I picked up the “Peanut Butter” package and read the ingredient list.

Wet Noses Little Stars Organic Training Treat.

Organic rye flour, organic ground peanuts, organic whole eggs, organic canola oil, organic molasses.

A short list of ingredients makes me happy!  No chemicals, no animal by products, no wheat, no corn, or soy!  I decided to do a quick Internet search on my phone to see what their website said.  Made in the USA from US products and all human food grade.  The price was around 7 dollars for a 9 oz bag, which will probably last me a month.  I think this is a fair deal.  These little treats are easy to handle and easy to chew.  The dogs eat them up quick with no fuss.  And as far as taste, all 3 of my poodles LOVE them.  I’m very happy to have found a good treat option that I can keep in my car and still be healthy for the dogs.
