Life With Poodles

Future of the Poodle Blog

Over the last two years life has been busier than usual, and if you know me at all, that is saying a lot.  Last summer Keith retired from the military.  Prior to his retirement, our home in Texas had some much-needed updates and repairs which had me hopping.  I spent most of the winter working on replacing doors, updating appliances and fixtures, painting walls both inside and out, and staining our fence.  With the plan to sell the home a priority, I knew what needed to be done to make it shine for the right buyer.

Mid May arrived with our home goods placed in long term storage, the house cleaned and ready to sell, and we loaded up the family and experienced an incredible 3 months traveling the US and Canada.  It was an incredible trip, but at long last, we landed in Huntsville, AL in mid-August.  I opted to homeschool our twins for the 2019-2020 school year, because we knew it was highly probable we would live in several school districts until we settled on a final home.  This held true and if my kids were in public school, they would have changed schools 3 times by December 2019!

As we all know, Covid-19 reared its ugly head in the spring of 2020, tossing all our litter plans for summer litters into the trash.  I decided to play it safe and hunker down.  We had a new home and many projects, so I continued to homeschool, work on the house, and enjoy some time away from the public and the stresses of breeding / showing dogs.  In June we added Locket to our crew and have taken a few camping trips while continuing to homeschool for the 2020-2021 school year.   If you have never homeschooled, know it does eat away at your day.

So where does this leave us?  I am going to attempt to move the Poodles up my priority list and focus more on the blog instead of quick post on Facebook.  There are several reasons I want to move back to blog post over Facebook.  First, social media takes far too much of the average person’s day.  I will be cutting back on my own time visiting social sites in order to keep my personal productivity levels higher.  It is easy to get sucked down the rabbit hole and not come up for air until hours later.  Removing myself from the media will help and offering other ways for you all to interact with us outside Facebook is my goal.  Second, Facebook and other social networks are anti-breeder and have in the past deleted my fellow breeders’ pages when litters were announced.  To avoid having this happen, the easiest solution is to only link back to this blog.

So, I hope to return to more frequent blogging, while juggling homeschool, several litters this winter, and normal everyday life.  Wish me luck!  I’m going to need it!
