Hazel is one of the girl pups from our last litter.  She is 4.5 months old and her family has gone to FL on vacation.  Her mom was not able to locate a pet sitter she felt could properly care for such a young pup, so she decided to make the long drive up to us and let me care for her over this week.  We are more than happy to do this for any of our pups!!

I took Miss Hazel to the park this morning for some socialization and training.  Hazel is going to be a therapy dog, eventually going to work with her mom.  Because of this, it is very important that she is ‘bomb proof’ with kids.  Today I tossed her into the fire to see exactly what I had to work with.  She did amazing!  At first she was wiggles, but I wouldn’t let any of the kids touch her if she wasn’t sitting or laying quietly.  If she got up, I put her back in a sit.  It did not take but once or twice for her to get “If I stand up, I get put back.  I must sit so they get to pet me!”  A dog eager for attention and love is so very easy to train.  Hazel is both intelligent and eager.  She is going to be one fabulous therapy dog!

Enjoy this short video of her showing her mad skills.  This is only her first training session with me and she did awesome!  I can’t wait to see how far I can take her over this next week.  Should be some great fun!

“Camp Baxter” where you get to have fun, but you must show good manners while you do it.  🙂

I also want to announce that “Jay”, Hazel’s brother, found a wonderful home this past weekend.  He has moved to NM with Maria and Mark.  I know they will give him the love and attention he deserves.  I miss that boy, he was amazing!  I’m tempted to repeat this breeding because of the top quality pups it produced.  We will see…
