Mica!! Our newest addition

As I mentioned a few months ago, I have been keeping my eye out for litters from low inbreeding, rare haplotype, rare pedigreed dogs.  I stumbled upon a website from a breeder I wasn’t very familiar with.  I knew of Nancy from agility circles, but I didn’t know she was breeding and had never spoken to her.  She had a litter due to be born sired by a Russian import with rare heterozygous haplotye.   I had spoken to the sire’s owner, Laura, on several occasions, so I was familiar with the temperament, health, and structure of the line.  The dam of the litter was Nancy’s Mitzy, who was her son’s agility dog.  Mitzy is titled in conformation, rally, and agility.   This litter offered me the best of both worlds.  A performance titled mom, a breeder experienced with performance puppies, and a sire with extremely rare lines.  I was excited!!  Now all I had to do was beg, borrow, and beg some more to convince Nancy I was a good home.  It was a close thing!  She has never placed a puppy with a breeder, so I had to give her time to think about the entire concept.  In the end, I succeeded and I can’t tell you how exciting it is to have this new girly.

Nancy Borga is our girls breeder from Waypoint Standard Poodles in NJ

Right now this girl will be staying here, but eventually she should go live with Heather and Quincy down in San Antonio.  Quincy really needs a friend, he is one of those ultra social butterfly boys.  The plan is for her to stay here for now while I do some training, get a good handle on her temperament, and maybe take her to a few fun shows this December.  Heather and I brain stormed and came up with a cute name!!  Ok, it was mostly Heather, I just voted on the choices she sent me.  🙂

I would like to present “MICA”, named after the silver sheet silicate mineral.  Her AKC name will be WAYPOINT’S ANUTTA ALL THAT GLITTERS

Mica is a BIG girl.  A tank of a puppy.  She will add in some much needed substance to my lines.  My guys are getting lighter and lighter in bone, so I believe her type is a perfect addition.  Her conformation is wonderful.  She is moderate in all ways and has an outstanding front assembly.  I was tickled to death to feel the way this girl is put together.  I picked her and her brother up from the airport late last night and they came out of the crate happy and calm.  Today I took time to groom her and snap some photos.  I love silvers!!  So easy to photograph.

PEDIGREE for DAM:  UKC Grand Ch Mount Bethel’s Mitsy CGC, NA, NAJ,NF, OA, OAJ, OF,AX,AXJ,TD,MX,MXJ, RO

PEDIGREE for SIRE: Domtotem Yandex Ru

I’ll be adding in her pedigree to the database and setting up her own webpage soon.

And yeah, I know I am INSANE.  A Mini puppy, a new Standard puppy, and a litter due in 10 days.  When I bite off more than I can chew, I make sure and bite off a LOT more than I can chew!!  🙂  Heather said she would save me if Jazz has a ton of puppies and I think I am drowning.   Heather is a great great friend!
