Website Updating: A Question?

I have a few questions for everyone.

When I added the blog several years back, I wanted an outlet for more ‘quick’ updates.  It was a way for information not specific to my own breeding program to be posted, but not clutter up my website.  I could post cute stories, puppy updates, play around with my photography, and never compromise the information on my breeding program.  At the same time, it would allow people to interact with me by posting comments and hopefully see how real life runs around this crazy poodle palace.  As I found better and better blog software, I was thinking maybe the best option would be to retire the website and merge everything to blog format.  It is the wave of the future!  The website is a hassle to update, requiring complicated software and a computer.  The blog software is kept on the net for me.  I can write up many blog post, save them for later, and post them with my phone or ipad at leisure.  I can add in new users who can make post for me while I am gone on vacation or unplugged.  Courtney did this with Georgie’s litter while I was away on vacation in England.

The major downside to the removal of my website is a concern about static information being lost or not as easy to access.  The website is a quick way to see specific information that rarely changes about Anutta Poodles.  If I do away with the website, I will need to have all that information easy to access here without it getting lost in the overflow of constant updates.  I believe it is possible but it won’t be as basic to navigate as the Website.  Less savvy internet users might be overwhelmed with the sheer volume of post and information.  They might love my blog, enjoy the updates, but fail to see the big picture of what my breeding program is all about.

My questions are:

1.  Keep both the Static Website and the Blog, but update the website more often.

2.  Discontinue the Website and bring all the information over to the Blog.

I’m looking at a serious overhaul in either case.  I have put off updating the website FAR to long.  The work load to update the website vs merge everything into blog format will be similar.  It is going to take me a solid week of work.  🙂  I haven’t added in the new puppies I am fostering / co-owning from this years two litters.  Jazz, Mocha, and Quincy need their own webpages.  A lot of new things needs to be added, some dogs need to be retired now that they are spayed / neutered.

In Short:  Do you think the two site method is valuable, or merge everything on one site?
